Chapter 1309 - 635
Chapter 1309 - 635
Afternoon, Blue Ice Bar.
The heavy soundproof door kept out all the sunlight and street noise.
The hall was dimly lit, with a few spotlights lazily sweeping around.
The dance floor was empty, yet the speakers thumped out strong bass test sounds, causing the glass on the bar to shiver slightly.
Two cleaning ladies were mopping the floor, while several servers gathered at the bar doing prep work before opening.
In a booth near the aisle, smoke billowed, making it particularly noisy.
Five hoodlums with dyed hair were huddled together playing poker.
"King pair, full sweep! Pay up, pay up!"
A tattooed thug proudly slapped his cards on the table, spreading his arms wide to rake in all the cash on the table in front of him.
"Sang Gou’s luck today is unbelievable!"
A little crony with an earring quickly offered a cigarette, smiling obsequiously as he flattered:
"You’re the hotshot in the Poison Snake Gang now; business is booming, and fortune follows suit. At this rate, we’ll be living large under your wing in no time!"
"Damn it, this is all blood and sweat I fought for!"
The thug leader called Sang Gou took the cigarette and lit it, spitting on the floor and boasting shamelessly:
"Just last week, those punks from West Street dared to fight us over territory. I led the charge, slashed down, and that so-called ’Iron Fist’ Guoshan Feng ended up getting over a dozen stitches. Now they hear my name and shit themselves."
Several thugs immediately chimed in, flattering him.
"That’s right, when Sang Gou swings that blade, who’s gonna dare get close!"
"Guoshan Feng’s nothing; to Brother Dog, he’s just a little worm!"
Afterward, Huang Mao leaned in, grinning with flattery:
"With this achievement, Boss Wei will surely reward you handsomely, maybe even promote you to Hall Master."
"Hall Master my ass!"
Sang Gou scoffed, cutting off Huang Mao:
"Boss Wei just snatched Old Li in the South City’s girl yesterday. Heard she’s got skills. Boss said once he’s tired of her, he’ll pass her to us brothers to enjoy; now that’s a real reward."
The thugs whistled excitedly upon hearing this.
"Speaking of which."
Huang Mao moved closer, with a lewd grin:
"The hatchling we grabbed last night looks pretty tame but has quite a temper; even dared to bite."
Sang Gou drew a good hand, leaned back against the sofa, and casually bounced his leg:
"Boss Wei likes those with a bit of contrast. Keep her locked up for a few days, starved a couple times, then get some brothers in to scare her a bit; she’ll be compliant in no time."
"Then let her entertain guests; innocent-looking schoolgirls are more popular than those escorts."
Laughter erupted within the booth, unrestrained.
Filthy jokes mixed with smoke were fermenting in the gloomy corner.
Just then, the bar’s tightly closed glass door was pushed open.
The copper bell hanging on the doorframe chimed crisply.
"Sorry, folks, we’re not open yet."
A server polishing the bar said without raising his head.
"I’m here to find someone."
A calm, steady voice pierced through the heavy bass, echoing in the empty hall.
The server looked up and asked:
"Who are you looking for?"
"Wang Yao."
The newcomer said sternly.
The server paused at the name.
The laughter from the booth abruptly ceased.
The five thugs all turned, their gaze piercing the dim light towards the door.
The two newcomers presented a stark contrast.
The young man in front had a tall, handsome build, casually shouldering a blue canvas bag.
He seemed like a university student who hadn’t graduated yet.
Behind him was a middle-aged man with broken gold-rimmed glasses.
The man held his clothes tightly, glancing around fearfully, visibly trembling.
Entering were Fang Cheng and Wang Li, having driven all the way from Jinshui Fish Market.
With Wang Li’s guidance, they finally found this bar tucked in the corner of the old town.
Fang Cheng scanned the hall.
Even though it was downtime, it wouldn’t hinder his task.
Sang Gou saw this, immediately tossed aside the playing cards, stood up, swaggered over.
"Wang Yao?"
He looked Fang Cheng up and down, his gaze resting on Wang Li at the back:
"Oh, it’s the folks bringing cash."
He stroked his chin, blowing Fang Cheng a flirtatious whistle.
"What’s the matter, old geezer afraid to come alone, bringing a pretty boy relative as backup?"
"Or are you the little girl’s boyfriend, trying to show some guts, staging a hero act?"
Fang Cheng stood still, his expression calm, not uttering a word.
Wang Li took a deep breath, suppressing the fear in his heart, stepping forward.
"I... I brought the money."
His voice quivered yet forced steadiness:
"But I must see my daughter first. Only when she’s unharmed will I hand over the money, or else..."
He gritted his teeth, adopting a defiant stance.
The thugs exchanged glances, erupting in laughter once again.
Sang Gou stepped forth, pointed at Wang Li’s nose, and cursed:
"Old Dog, you think you’re buying groceries at the market? Daring to negotiate with me? Hand over the cash obediently, and your daughter won’t face hardship today. Say one more word, I’ll strip her and toss her on the street to solicit immediately!"
