Chapter 922 Amazing Teammates Are Here
Chapter 922 My Amazing Teammate is Here (1)
Earth—807128, Wasteland Universe.
Strictly speaking, this universe is the more familiar "wasteland universe," the universe where the true story of Old Wolf's Homecoming takes place. The main stories in this universe are only "Old Wolf's Homecoming" and "The Return of the Hawk," while the wasteland universe where other stories take place, besides these two, is located on Earth 21923, which Peter visited.
The more fundamental point of contention is that Mr. Fantastic Reed Richards and Invisible Woman Susan Storm of Earth 807128 did not die, but were trapped in a time vortex and are destined to return someday in the future.
Of course, this doesn't stop Peter from coming to this universe to find Old Man Logan. He arrived after the end of the Old Man Logan story, when old Logan was wandering the wasteland with the only surviving baby Hulk, Banner. The entire wasteland world's order had been disrupted by Old Man Logan, and Lord Doom had once again come to rule the world.
Meanwhile, a legend called Wolverine reappeared in the wasteland.
Peter wasn't in a hurry to find Wolverine, because old Logan's thinking had changed. Now, besides taking care of the children, his only task was hunting down those old, worn-out villains in the wasteland. And if anyone inquired about Wolverine, he would arrive soon.
So Peter went straight to Earth—Moltenham, 807128—to openly inquire about Wolverine. Besides being a relatively prosperous town and having a fairly reliable order, this place also has Thor's hammer. If something happens, Peter can just grab the hammer and get to work.
He used anti-venom to transform into a suit that looked completely out of place in the wasteland, and conducted transactions with others in the bar. Another advantage of the wasteland world is that no one will care about underage drinking anymore.
So Peter ordered a drink and started asking about Wolverine. In return, he claimed he could cure everyone's diseases, and of course, he could.
So one after another, people provided Peter with information about "where Wolverine was suspected to have appeared" or "which important person Wolverine killed this time."
Just one day later, while Peter was still drinking tasteless cheap liquor at the bar, an old man wearing a hood walked up to him.
"This place is alright, everyone's reasonable, even though it's totally Ashley's logic. But she's not bad, and everyone's afraid of her." The hooded old man finished speaking and ordered a drink. "So, I heard there's a guy in a suit going around asking about Wolverine, but the question is, who the hell are you—"
The moment Logan turned his head and saw Peter's profile, his pupils suddenly contracted, and then his steel claws shot out and swung towards Peter. Peter hadn't expected this, but luckily he had activated his Aura Sense at all times to be on guard, and he managed to dodge the claws in an instant.
When the bartenders and customers saw that this plague had actually appeared, they all screamed and ran away, quickly leaving the battlefield to the two superpowered individuals. Peter distanced himself from Logan and shrugged helplessly.
"I must say, I had a lot of ideas for your welcome, Logan, this is one of them. Of course, I didn't expect that I wouldn't even have time to introduce myself. I thought I would have to hand you my business card first so you would have something to tear off."
"It's clear that Jackal did a good job with you, even keeping all of Peter Parker's quips perfectly." Logan grinned as he aimed at the other guy, thinking how lucky he was to have left Baby Banner at Hawkeye's ex-wife's house, so he wouldn't have to worry about fighting this guy.
Peter, realizing what had happened, exclaimed, "Wait, I'm not a clone of the Jackal!"
"And whose is that? Red Skull? Doctor Octopus? Or Doom?"
"————" Peter suddenly felt that explaining it might be inconvenient, so he raised his hand, leaving Logan completely bewildered: "What are you doing?"
"Oh, I just tried out a local must-do activity when I came to Hammerfall yesterday: holding a hammer."
With those words, Thor's hammer crashed into the bar, smashing through the wall. Lightning then appeared beside Peter. Logan's guard seemed to lighten slightly, but he still warily eyed the figure who resembled a young Spider-Man: "So, this is another illusion set up by Mysterio?"
"Wait, you haven't taken care of Mysterio yet? I thought you'd already dealt with him—"
This truly puzzled Old Wolf. He remembered killing Mysterio, or perhaps the initial elimination was just an illusion, and Mysterio had returned. But it seemed—Mysterio, until the day Spider-Man died, never knew Peter Parker's true identity?
"Who exactly are you—"
"You know that guy, from Earth 616, I'm here to—uh, assemble a multiverse team to solve some multiverse problems, something like that. A higher-dimensional being called the Beyonder is planning to play a game, inviting different heroes and villains from the multiverse to participate, and the Beyonder will grant one wish to each member of the winning team."
The Transcendent —
Logan frowned, then stood up. "It seems, maybe—I remember something like that, before that day happened."
"That's normal. Your universe is a possible future of our universe. Although many details are different, our universe may eventually merge with yours until that crucial moment occurs—I've even met Nimrod."
After a long silence, Logan glanced at the hammer in Peter's hand and suddenly asked, "How can you be sure I'll agree?"
"Hmm, good question. I don't know either. I went to another wasteland universe and asked another one of you, but he said that maybe other old Logans need this opportunity more, so I came to you."
Twilight Wolf frowned and asked Peter, "Then he doesn't need it?"
"Regarding this question, well—perhaps you could come and take a look at that wasteland universe first. Your family members are still here; they haven't left yet."
Logan remained silent after hearing this, staring intently at Peter for a moment before walking out of the bar first: "Whatever, I need to go back and entrust the kids to someone else's care. By the way, if you don't want to be chased by your own granddaughter, you'd better come along."
