Chapter 860 So what are the Avengers waiting for?
Nick Fury remained in that absolutely secure secret base, monitoring the operation of this reserve S.H.I.E.L.D. and testing the reliability of these personnel. After all, his enemies weren't just Ultron, but also Hydra. Even he couldn't be completely certain that no Hydra had infiltrated.
However, he could assure him that Hydra and Ultron were definitely not in cahoots. The two groups had the same goal, and therefore, they could not possibly conspire together. Hydra and Ultron both wanted to create a world under their absolute control, and they would not allow another entity to appear that occupied the same ecological niche as them.
Therefore, it can be said that Hydra would be more dedicated than S.H.I.E.L.D. itself in dealing with Ultron.
But Nick Fury has always been wondering about one thing: what are the Avengers waiting for? Hank Pym hasn't appeared yet, what is he waiting for?
"Sir, Hercules has appeared on the European continent and is fighting against Ultron."
Fury sighed helplessly, then countered the agent's question, "Isn't there any more constructive intelligence?"
The agent paused for several seconds, then seemed to understand something: "Sir, the nuclear weapon codes of all countries are protected. This means that the Ultron that the Avengers belong to hasn't been destroyed by Ultron and is still protecting our data security."
"Does something so obvious really need an investigation?" Fury was truly exasperated, but he also knew that his subordinates didn't have any information at the moment: "Go downstairs, come and tell me if anything comes up."
The subordinate immediately went down, but Fury stopped him again: "Wait, how's Spider-Man? Any news?"
"There's been no word from Spider-Man since he went to intercept that plane, sir."
".————"
Fury simply nodded in the end, without saying anything.
Peter is in excellent condition right now. All he has to do is eject to a height of a few hundred meters, open a slingshot to teleport the plane to the Hudson River, and then use spider silk and anti-venom symbiotes to make a safe emergency landing, right?
This was much simpler than Captain Sullenberger's emergency landing.
After the plane came to a stop in the Hudson River, Peter breathed a sigh of relief: "Okay, gotta open the cabin doors quickly and release the air valves. Hopefully, American Airlines has learned from Captain Sullenberger's disaster. Hello, everyone, how are you all?"
Peter used his anti-venom to infiltrate the cabin and forcefully opened the door. He went inside and saw that all the passengers had stood up and were looking at him. However, there was a slight difference: half of each passenger's face was now Ultron's.
We're fine, Spider-Man.
The flight attendant closest to Peter asked, "Aren't you going to join us, Spider-Man?"
Nanorobots —
[Correct answer.]
Then all 155 people in the plane, including the crew and passengers, or 155 Ultrons, rushed out and charged toward Peter. They had all been modified to have lethal firepower, and almost instantly tore the entire plane apart. Explosions swept outwards, and huge waves appeared on the Hudson River.
Amidst the spray, Peter leaped through the wreckage of the plane and landed on the nearby dock, his back still covered in countless symbiotic tentacles. Simultaneously, Peter launched webs from his wrists, creating a giant web between the buildings, and then pulled hard.
155 "Ultronians" who had been modified by Ultron were thrown onto those giant nets. Peter pointed at them briefly: "155 people in total. Okay, not a single one is missing, except for one plane that was blown up. I hope American Airlines won't hold me responsible for that."
You can't change any of this, Spider-Man.
Seeing Peter's actions, an Ultron spoke up, stating bluntly: "You may be able to use your power to reject the coming of the Gospel, but you cannot stop the global transformation brought about by the Gospel. Ultron has taken over the prototype; a continuous stream of Ultron robots and nanobots is being produced, enough to cover the entire world in just a few hours."
What will you have left to save the day?
"Thank you for your disheartening speech, but I believe in the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and all those who choose to rebel," Peter said, placing his hand on the spiderweb. "Honestly, I'm still glad to know that so many people won't accept your gospel, Ultron."
You can't change anything.
"As you said, religion, emerging from the bastion of ancient Roman pragmatism and science, developed modern science through the exploration and proof of God's creation of a perfect world. And every advancement in science shakes religion itself. So, do you allow your gospel to be shaken?"
The people of Ultron naturally voiced their opposition: "The Gospel of Ultron cannot be altered; it will be a guarantee of humanity's absolute safety."
"Then what's the difference between you and that doomed religion? Some scientists have discovered that the rules governing the world are so wonderful that a god must have created it. Other scientists believe that precisely because of this, a god must not exist."
Electricity surged through Peter once more, and after unleashing his next attack, he looked at the Ultronians and uttered his final words: "But from any perspective, religion has nothing to do with any of this, does it?"
As the electric current passed through the bodies of these Ultronians, they all passed out. Peter breathed a sigh of relief, but only a half breath, because he found that his spider-sense was still responding. He activated his air perception and shadow vision, and immediately knew what was coming.
"Seriously? The Universiade?!"
A truck that looked almost exactly like Optimus Prime came rushing from the other side of the street. Peter looked behind him and saw another heavy truck hurtling towards him.
Peter made a decision immediately. He stood still and stretched out his hands to both sides at the same time. Then the symbiote spread and expanded from his arms, turning into two giant claws that gripped the heavy truck.
The modified Ultron driver even had time to correct Peter.
[The U-23 doesn't belong to this country; this one is a Pitt & Beard.]
"I know, Optimus Prime. Too bad these guys won't become Autobots."
After Peter finished speaking, for some reason the spider senses became even louder. He watched as the two Pitbilt trucks used Cybertronian compression technology and actually broke free of the symbiote's restraints, transforming into two robots that looked just like Optimus Prime.
"Is this reasonable?"
What's unreasonable about it? After all, Marvel owns the comic book rights to Spider-Man and Transformers.
