Chapter 694 The Show Begins!
Rikers Island prison before nightfall.
A jailer carried a steak to Kingpin's cell, knocked respectfully, opened the door, and placed the steak on Kingpin's table. Kingpin, who was reading, realized the jailer was still there and put the book away. "Is there anything else?"
"Your lawyer is looking for you, Mr. Fisker."
My lawyer contacted me.
Upon hearing this, Fisk couldn't help but laugh, then sat down at the table, picked up his knife and fork, and said, "Tell him to wait a bit, until I've finished eating."
A few minutes later, Fisk arrived at the meeting room and saw Matt Murdoch waiting there. He gestured for the guards to leave, and Matt couldn't help but laugh after hearing all this: "Looks like you're having a good time here, Fisk."
"Yes, as long as—I am still human, and all I have committed is an economic crime, then I don't need to be locked up with your bodysuit-clad friends, you devil."
Matt frowned, but he wasn't there to argue with Fisk. After a moment of silence, he asked, "Lester attacked my friend."
"Really? Nothing happened, right?"
"Looks like you can't control him?"
Do you think I can control him?
They were both silent for a moment, then Matt changed the subject: "If you still intend to eliminate the Hand, then tonight is a good time. I can lure out all the Hand members, especially their executives, and then wipe them all out in one fell swoop."
"Sounds great. Congratulations, demon, you've defeated yet another enemy."
Matt sighed in annoyance upon hearing this and stood up abruptly: "You know why I'm here, Fisk!"
"I know your friends are short-handed. You need someone to die, or to die in your place. You think I'm the right person for that." Fisk looked at Matt and said calmly, "Don't worry, my men will take action, but not in a life-or-death situation. I can only guarantee that if you win, the Hand members won't be able to escape, that's all."
Matt sighed, turned and left, but at the door he didn't forget to tell Kingpin something.
"You'd better not go back on your word."
How could I go back on my word? Kingpin smiled slightly and asked a prison guard to find him a phone.
"Hello, Mr. Gorgon, is that right?"
In September, New York was still hot, but luckily, Manhattan had a light rain that lasted from afternoon until evening.
The raindrops falling from the sky could not obscure the city's brilliance. New York was as dazzling as ever, and Hell's Kitchen was as vibrant as ever. Neon lights on the streets pierced through the fragile rain curtain, relentlessly slapping against the ground.
The water droplets disappeared into the ground without splashing a single drop. The homeless man, who had been abstaining from drugs for many days, lay greedily on the ground, licking the water stains with his tongue. He was hungry and thirsty, and his mind was hazy. In the distance, he saw colorful lights shining on the hazy asphalt road, which reminded him of the hallucinatory feeling when he was on drugs.
He wanted to experience that psychedelic feeling again.
In a daze, he seemed to hear something. He looked up at the sky and saw a dark shadow sweep across the rooftop. Then, a warm sensation came from his throat, and he lost consciousness amidst a hallucinatory feeling.
The Hand's immortal ninja sheathed his weapons. He hadn't expected to encounter a homeless man in a place like this, but today's operation couldn't afford any casualties, so he might as well just finish him off.
The mission objective is to eliminate the traitors; now, it's time to set off!
The Hand ninjas quickly traversed the street, and only after confirming they were all gone did the homeless man's "corpse" disappear in the distorted light. Unaware of this, the Hand ninjas rapidly approached the Nelson-Murdoch law firm and chose the simplest and most brutal method to eliminate the traitor: they smashed the windows and threw bombs inside.
Amidst the raging flames, no one emerged from within. However, the immortal ninjas showed no emotion; unsurprised, they entered the ruins of the agency, looked around, and then, beneath the concrete slab, a burly black man rose up in fury and punched an immortal ninja through the chest.
Then, under another concrete slab, Wolverine Logan also sprang up, and together with Luke Cage, they cleared out the enemies who had entered the agency.
Further away, with the help of Bullseye beside him, Gorgon assessed the situation in the distance. Almost the instant he learned that Luke Cage and Wolverine had appeared at the agency, he concluded: "It seems our friends aren't so stupid after all; they know how to set traps for us."
"Setting a trap? You're oversimplifying things, Gorgon."
Daredevil's voice came through, but Gorgon knew they were all behind him without turning around. Bullseye and Typhoid Mary immediately turned around and saw Daredevil, Iron Fist, and Erica standing on the water tank behind them.
Meanwhile, Mr. Negative, Cloak and Dagger of the Defenders also began a fierce battle with the large influx of Hand Undead Ninjas.
A cold smile crept across Gorgon's lips.
"Looks like you're very confident in your fighting abilities, Daredevil. Do you really think the Hand can be taken down by these guys?"
"Why don't you try it and see?!"
Matt charged forward, heading straight for Gorgon, the leader of the Hand. As a blind man, Gorgon's abilities were useless against him, and Gorgon didn't care at all. He drew his weapon, the "Godslayer Blade," and faced Daredevil head-on.
Then Erica faced off against Bullseye, and Iron Fist against Typhoid Mary; almost everything was arranged perfectly.
So, what about Spider-Man?
Peter is asking about Gwen's condition.
"How's it going? Is Mysterio's helmet working?"
"It works very well. It proves that even zombie ninjas can be fooled by these helmets. The only problem is—you have to act convincingly."
Wearing a helmet, Gwen said somewhat dejectedly, "I'm a little...uncomfortable."
"---Well, there's nothing we can do about it. The most important thing right now is to take down the Hand. We still need your help. I bet the Hand members are wondering when I'll arrive. Other Avengers might not come to this kind of battle, but they know I'll definitely come. So, the Hand is probably thinking about what I'm waiting for."
Hearing this, Gwen looked up at Peter and asked, "So what are you waiting for?"
"I'm waiting for Kingpin."
