Chapter 530 - 312: Two Paths, Wanted
Chapter 530 - 312: Two Paths, Wanted
The Celestial Martial Continent is divided into the Five Great Domains: Eastern Domain, Western Domain, Southern Domain, Northern Domain, and Central Domain.
No one really knows just how vast the Celestial Martial Continent is; forget crossing domains, even within a single domain, people often rely on Transmission Domain Gates to get around.
Take Beiding Continent, where Wei Fan is currently located—even a Martial King Powerhouse would need a month or two just to fly from one end to the other.
And that’s assuming there are no external obstacles and you’re flying full-speed in a straight line. But in reality, there are forbidden zones and deathlands everywhere, or territories belonging to some Holy Sect, or lands ruled by Demon Saint clans—most people wouldn’t dare fly around recklessly, unless they want to get themselves killed.
And continents like Beiding—there are dozens of them just within the Eastern Domain; their scale defies imagination.
"You thought the Wilderness was big, right? More than twenty dynasties, hundreds of billions of people, most of which is occupied by Demon Fiends. But let me tell you, the Wilderness is just a corner of Beiding Continent’s vast map.
And among the dozens of great continents in the Eastern Domain, Beiding is actually one of the smallest..."
Inside the mountain cave, Feng Hua explained things beyond the Wilderness to Wei Fan, and a rough outline of this massive world took shape in his mind.
This world was unimaginably huge. A place it takes a Martial King Powerhouse a month or two to fly across was just a scrap of the world at large.
He had been right to be cautious. In a world this immense, with trillions upon trillions as a population base, and endless eons of history, there were bound to be horrifying powerhouses out there.
Martial Kings are said to dominate a region, but how big that region is really up for debate. In the grand scale of the world, even a Martial King is basically an ant—maybe even Martial Saints don’t amount to much.
"Dominating a region" might just mean being a local thug, unable to even step foot outside your own continent.
Back in the day, Qi Daozhen trained the Divine Silkworm Nine Transformations all the way to the Seventh Transformation—maybe even adding the Scripture of the Three Emperors—yet people only said he ’almost’ became invincible. No one said he was truly without rival.
Which means even back then, there were those even stronger than Qi Daozhen.
"If I kill every Demon Fiend in the world, I wonder how strong I’d get—would I rival the Divine Spirits, or even surpass them?"
But of course, Wei Fan wasn’t afraid; in fact, he felt more fired up than ever.
In such a vast world, there’d be an endless supply of Demon Fiends for him to hunt—unlike the Wilderness, where in less than a year he’d wiped them all out.
Feng Hua looked speechlessly at Wei Fan; she’d told him all this to warn him that the outside world wasn’t some tiny place like the Wilderness, and he’d have to be more careful—no more charging ahead without thinking.
In such a vast world, there was never a shortage of Demons ever born in history—countless talents even more monstrous than Wei Fan—but hardly any ever grew to their full potential in the end.
Yet seeing his eyes light up after she spoke, she wondered if saying anything was even helpful.
"What should I do, then?" Wei Fan asked in a low voice.
He understood what Feng Hua was implying, but said nothing about how he’d already toned things down. If it was still the old him, back at the Zilan Sect he’d never have run—instead, he’d have summoned the Human Emperor Bell and smashed straight into the Zilan Sect.
Not that he was sure he could flatten the Zilan Sect, but at the very least, he would’ve killed the Zilan Sect’s Grand Elder and the City Lord of Zilan City.
He was even more clear about the other layer of Feng Hua’s advice—she was hinting at the path he should take from here on out.
Seeing Wei Fan get it, a flicker of approval flashed in Feng Hua’s eyes: "There are two roads. One, join a Sect. With your talent, you could enter any Sect on the Celestial Martial Continent."
Once you’re in, you’re sure to be valued—Cultivation Techniques, resources, Divine Soldiers, you’d lack for nothing. With steady cultivation for a year or two, you could break through to the Martial Saint Realm.
Don’t worry, while there are Sects out here that are as indifferent to Demon Fiends as those in the Wilderness, the vast majority of Sects firmly side with humanity. I can recommend you a good one."
She also knew how much Wei Fan hated Sects—he’d smashed the entire Desert Martial Alliance and destroyed the Guangling Sect at its head.
"What’s the second path?"
Wei Fan shook his head.
He knew his own situation—though after the Divine Silkworm Nine Transformations his talent wasn’t trash anymore, the best path for him was still power harvesting from killing Demon Fiends.
No matter how great the Sect, even if he could use their resources freely, his cultivation speed could never rival what he got from the panel.
As long as he kept harvesting Power, reaching Martial Saint in just a few days wasn’t impossible. That’d never happen in a Sect.
All his growth so far came from the panel—even learning the Divine Silkworm Nine Transformations and other Martial Arts was just to save Power and fully unleash his potential.
Besides, he didn’t like the idea of kneeling to anyone as a disciple; his freedom to act, destroy whoever crossed him—that came from being free of Sects and entanglements.
He wasn’t about to tie himself down with a bunch of baggage—if he had worries behind him, let alone killing people, he’d have to think twice before even killing Demon Fiends.
To him, joining a Sect just wasn’t a fit; even if he joined the strongest one without a care in the world, it’d still be all rules and restrictions. And he had too many secrets anyway—the Divine Silkworm Nine Transformations, the Human Emperor Bell—none of which could see the light of day.
"The second way is to do what you did in the Wilderness—keep working with the Demon Hunter Organization!"
Feng Hua shook her head. Honestly, she hoped Wei Fan would choose the Sect path, believing that with his talent, he’d grow even faster in a Sect.
The Demon Hunter Organization might have fewer rules and less restriction, but everything you want you have to earn yourself—trading Demon Fiend lives for each reward, which eats up time.
And joining a Sect doesn’t mean you can’t be a Demon Hunter at all.
The Demon Hunter Organization out here is different from the Wilderness. In the Wilderness, Demon Hunters basically wouldn’t take Sect people, because the Desert Martial Alliance always opposed the Demon Hunter Organization and played both sides with Demon Fiends.
But outside, things are different—the Demon Hunter Organization doesn’t care where you’re from. Anyone willing can join, whether or not you’re from a Sect.
"But just like the Wilderness, Demon Hunting merits in the wider world can only be exchanged for Cultivation Techniques, not resources or anything else."
Wei Fan nodded. All he cared about was Cultivation Techniques—resources were meaningless to him.
If not for the Cultivation Techniques, he wouldn’t even bother with the Demon Hunter Organization—he’d just go hunt Demon Fiends on his own.
"So my Desert Demon Hunter status doesn’t work out here?" He looked at Feng Hua, curious.
"Your Desert Demon Hunter Organization is really just a namesake. It was created by a senior from Xuanyuan Peak after crossing the Wilderness. Those waist tokens can’t communicate with the real Demon Hunter Organization, can’t receive news, can’t take missions or exchange for Cultivation Techniques."
As she spoke, she frowned: "Even though the Demon Hunter Organization doesn’t care about background, they still investigate new members. You have no outside-world identity, so if you join, you’ll have to report how you left the Wilderness."
Wei Fan frowned: "Will that identity cause problems?"
After the Dao Collapse, he was the first to walk out of the Wilderness—and the kicker was that he’d reached Martial King Third Layer before even turning twenty.
Some would think he was an unrivaled genius; others might believe he’d found a Treasure—or suspect he’d obtained Qi Daozhen’s legacy.
And it’s possible he really did—both the Divine Silkworm Nine Transformations and the Scripture of the Three Emperors he’d found in the Underground Mausoleum could have been left by Qi Daozhen.
Even if they weren’t, Qi Daozhen certainly obtained them in his time.
Feng Hua shook her head: "I can’t be sure. The Demon Hunter Organization outside is huge—nothing so pure as the Wilderness!"
Back in the Desert Demon Hunter Organization, there weren’t even enough Martial Kings to count on one hand, so everything was easy to manage. Out here, no one even knew how many Martial King Powerhouses there were, and there were tons of Sub-Palace Masters. The whole structure was just different.
The Demon Hunter Organization is just massive—the Five Great Domains all have Demon Hunter branches, and when it comes to keeping secrets, it’s nothing like the Wilderness.
Wei Fan frowned, but soon relaxed again.
It really wasn’t a big issue—his identity couldn’t be hidden for long anyway. Once any outsiders who’d entered the Wilderness came back, his story would be out.
Feng Hua had fully recovered, Wei Fan put away the array, and the two left the cave heading toward the Demon Hunter Sub-Hall of Beiding Continent.
The Beiding Continent Sub-Hall was located in the central area of Beiding, in Celestial Star City. According to Feng Hua, it was also the most prosperous region on the continent—full of cultivators, strong as clouds, making Zilan City completely unworthy of comparison.
"If we travel by ourselves, it’ll take about twenty days to reach Celestial Star City. But if we go to Liuyun Sect ahead and take the Transmission Domain Gate, we’ll reach Celestial Star City in just three or four days."
Using the Transmission Domain Gate costs a fee, but neither of them wanted to waste time on travel. The fee was steep, but not unaffordable.
"The Martial Dao outside really is flourishing!" Wei Fan couldn’t help but exclaim.
Things like Transmission Domain Gates, unheard of in the Wilderness, were an actual business here. Some major Sects, just by virtue of their location, could support nearly all their disciples simply off Transmission Domain Gate profits.
Of course, this sort of business isn’t for just anyone. You can’t even start unless you know how to build a Transmission Domain Gate. For instance, the Zilan Sect never even touched it because they never knew how to construct one.
And it’s not as simple as just getting plans—a Transmission Domain Gate is a high-level combination of Dao Mark and Array. Only a true Array Master can build one.
Supposedly, the Transmission Domain Gate of Liuyun Sect was constructed five or six thousand years ago.
Three days later, the two arrived near Liuyun Sect, descending from the skies.
Liuyun Sect ran its Transmission Domain Gate business, but didn’t actually set it inside their own Sect—instead, it was based in a mountain valley nearby.
As they entered the valley, Wei Fan noticed a wanted poster with his own face pasted up on a wall.
It was a bounty notice—he’d been wanted by the Zilan Sect.
